Christmas Crafting

I have been crafting a little. I've made a couple of knitted dishcloths, made some Christmas cards, and have done a couple of sewing projects. Yesterday we celebrated Christmas with my son & his wife. I made a fleece jacket for their dog, a little Min Pin. They sent me a picture of her in it. It's a little blurry, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. I think I need to add some more velcro. It's a bit big for her. She's such a little diva.... I found a tag that says "Princess" and just had to get it to add to the collar!
Merry Christmas!

Childhood Memories

On one of the email lists I am on, we have found that many of us loved playing with paper dolls, especially Betsy McCall when we were young(er)!! What fun to take a walk down memory lane! How about you? Did you play with paper dolls? Did you have favorite ones? What special memories do you have from your childhood days?

Tough Times?

I have so many stamps that I am picky about what I buy now. I have to really like it or be able to think of multiple uses. Well, this was one of those stamps that I really liked and thought it might be a good one to use for an encouragement card. So, if you've been facing some tough times lately, I hope this card will boost your spirits!

Fall is in the Air

Although this is not a recently made card, it is still one of my favorite fall cards that I have made. I love making autumn cards - the colors, the textures, etc. The only thing I don't like now about fall is that it means winter is just around the corner.....brrrrrr!

You Belong in 1954

serenity

Do you look for serenity? Do you have a place to go when you need quiet? Although it's been years since I've been camping, I made this card for a contest and serenity seemed just the right title for it. So... what's your favorite place to go when you need some quiet time or a place of rejuvination?

Enjoying Summer

I have been enjoying the summer - taking it easy, gardening, reading, watching, and listening to the backyard birds. One morning as I was sitting on my back porch enjoying a cup of coffee and doing my Bible reading, a song sparrow was sweetly singing in a nearby tree. The picture isn't clear, but it is exactly what I wanted. I call it "Morning Serenade".
God's creation amazes me each day. Check out my other blog for another photo that I was thrilled to get.

Free Time

I am loving having some free time now that school is out.Mostly, I have been relaxing and reading. I am enjoying the series "Annie's People' by Beverly Lewis. I have even found time to do some rubber stamping and make some cards. Below are some thank you cards I made using a layout I saw at Impress Rubber stamps website.
Thanks for visiting!

5 days and counting....

I have had no free time in the past couple of months while I have been substitute teaching. No time to be creative at home, so I will share a bulletin board background that I made for the 1st grade classroom as we learned about the desert. Since this photo, we have added cacti and animals, but I don't have a picture of that. I had originally had a blue background on the top and a brown background at the bottom. Too boring. So, I started tearing paper, making a collage sunset. Fun, but time consuming.

Rubber Stamping - Trash to Treasure

You might be thinking, "What does a take-out box have to do with stamping?!" Well, last fall, my dh, sister-in-law, & I were out to a local "restaurant" (actually, a pizza/sandwich store that has an eat-in area) and we had left-overs so got a box to bring them home. When I saw the box, my first thought was, "That would make a great card!!!" So, I set out to recreate it, using chipboard (new to me) and some papers from The Angel Company TM. This was my result.
I was quite pleased with it. Since I hadn't shared any of my cards with you, I thought I would start with this one.

Tagged! You're It!

My friend Lori, a fellow "muser", tagged me. Since I had done this not long ago, I am rerouting you to my previous answers. Yes, that's a lazy way out!! If you are reading this, then please consider yourself tagged, too!

March 25

OK, Lori said I cheated (LOL!!), so.... here are 8 more things you never knew about me.... 1. I like pepperoni, green pepper & mushroom pizza. 2. I could eat ice cream every day, but I don't! 3. My favorite thing to do during my "me" time is read inspirational fiction with some "meat" to them. No "fluffy" romances, please! 4. I love holding babies. 5. I accepted Jesus when I was at a Pioneer Girl Camp in NY. 6. I have been to Haiti 2 times on mission trips (OK, some of you already know that....) 7. I attended 3 schools in 3rd grade, 2 schools in 5th grade and 2 schools in 7th grade. 8. I'm not a good cook - I'm very boring and afraid to just guess at measurements.

Meet Olympia SnowWoman

In 1999, Bethel, Maine was the home of the tallest snowman - Angus, King of the mountain . (Our governor was then Angus King). It was pretty amazing. This year they decided to build another snowman - ah, a snow woman! We went to see her a couple weeks ago. Isn't she amazing??! You can check out her blog here!

What does this have to do with my stamping or stitching??? Not a thing! Since I haven't been able to do any crafting lately, I wanted to share someone else's "craft". I hope you enjoy!

Firefighter Blanket

I wish I had more time to blog and craft! Last Monday after school, a few of the teachers got together and we learned to make tied fleece blankets. So simple! I made this one for my hubby. I am sure I will be making more.

An old project

This is an afghan that my mother-in-law began back in the late 1980's or early 1990's. I had picked out the colors, but she was unable to finish it before she died in 1998. She always had a few projects going (like me!) Since I haven't been able to do any crafting lately, I thought I would share this afghan that I hope to one day finish. I sewed the strips that were finished together, but that's about it. Someday...... when I am up for a challenge and make the time, I will get started on it again. I just love the colors and it looks great on my new burgandy colored couch cover I just bought. The pillows help tie in the green curtains.

thanks for visiting!

As onto the Lord...

Teaching school is a full time job! I come home after nine or so hours at school with more to do at home. I have not done any handiwork except to hem up some new pants. That's not very exciting or worthy of a photo!!

I found this graphic tonight and I thought that I would at least add it to my blog to remind me of what my desire should be, whether teaching or crafting or whatever ~ Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
