another hat

Since there was another teacher having a baby at school, I made one more Jester hat (pictured in previous post). I was disappointed that I messed up in a couple places, but I guess that is just a reminder that I am an imperfect human. It reminds me of what I have heard of the Amish, though I am not sure if it is true - they make a mistake somewhere on whatever they make to show their imperfect human nature. Only God is perfect. It certainly is humbling though, making me not get prideful of what I make! I so want it to be perfect! I have not been doing any crafting lately ~ life has been too busy, or I have spent free time reading. If you haven't be sure to check out my other blog and my pictures of Haiti where I recently spent 2 weeks. Part of my heart is there!

Two Completed!

So many of my projects, I begin and don't finish. I made a goal this past week to knit a baby cap. Actually, it's more for a toddler, but I am giving it as a baby gift. My goal this year it to complete some unfinished projects. I am also working on a "prayer shawl" which is made from
blue/white/yellow variegated yarn. Here is a photo of the little boy's "jester" hat. The pattern is from Bernat (Baby Jacquards).

For Christmas, I made my mom a blanklet/snuggie - i.e. fleece blanket with sleeves. I found the pattern at http://www.sissonfamily.com/Sewingroom/pages/2006projects.htm
I made a few personal changes, but here is my mom in the final product!

Christmas Crafting

I have been crafting a little. I've made a couple of knitted dishcloths, made some Christmas cards, and have done a couple of sewing projects. Yesterday we celebrated Christmas with my son & his wife. I made a fleece jacket for their dog, a little Min Pin. They sent me a picture of her in it. It's a little blurry, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like. I think I need to add some more velcro. It's a bit big for her. She's such a little diva.... I found a tag that says "Princess" and just had to get it to add to the collar!
Merry Christmas!

Childhood Memories

On one of the email lists I am on, we have found that many of us loved playing with paper dolls, especially Betsy McCall when we were young(er)!! What fun to take a walk down memory lane! How about you? Did you play with paper dolls? Did you have favorite ones? What special memories do you have from your childhood days?

Tough Times?

I have so many stamps that I am picky about what I buy now. I have to really like it or be able to think of multiple uses. Well, this was one of those stamps that I really liked and thought it might be a good one to use for an encouragement card. So, if you've been facing some tough times lately, I hope this card will boost your spirits!

Fall is in the Air

Although this is not a recently made card, it is still one of my favorite fall cards that I have made. I love making autumn cards - the colors, the textures, etc. The only thing I don't like now about fall is that it means winter is just around the corner.....brrrrrr!
